What are good Christmas gifts for three little girls and a 1 year old baby boy?

baby boy

One is in Kindergarten, another in second, and the other in 4th.
They’re my cousins and over the past years I haven’t really given
such fantastic gifts. I mean I try hard, but it’s mostly toys and clothes.
What’s something that they can keep forever (or more then a couple of years)
and it’s memorable? I can’t give toys because their parents (not all related) don’t want any more toys. I don’t want to give them DVDs, either (stuck in front of the TV all day) and music is okay but I really don’t like Kids Bop or Hannah Montana for the children. Of course for my baby boy cousin, I’ll give him a teddy bear or blanket (he doesn’t care, he’s pleased if you give him something to bang with)
Keep in mind, it can’t be pricey and it’ll be helpful if parents or people with the same experiences answered. (I was thinking of getting them a baby doll, I remember my first one(: but then they own like 20)

I would give gift certificates and then make a date to take them shopping for themselves. All girls like shopping and it will make them feel grown up and closer to you.
I would give each girl a musical jewelry box, its something they could keep and is very useful to every girl:) for the boy, hmmm to keep? maybe a piggy bank??
Maybe a dollhouse? Dollhouses are fantastic, cheap and plastic or otherwise. This is a really nice one:

Also, Cranium games are really fun for kids that age. Especially “Hullabaloo” and “Family Fun”. These are games that involve acting stuff out and moving around too, so they’re fantastic:

Excellent luck!!
Build A Bear . . it’s personal, its designed to suit each childs taste and its something that they can cherish forever. My son is 3yrs (nearly 4) and likes his ‘magic police panda bear’. You can get a gift certificate so the older ones can go to a store and make it themselves (something my son really loved doing) or you can make it for them with things they like in mind. This is a gift thats fantastic for all the ages you mentioned. http://www.buildabear.com/
The Process
- pick out a animal of your choice to stuff
- pick out a sound (if you choose)
- grab a felt heart (for the inside of your animal)
- sing a song (for the kids) to jump start their heart and make it your special bear
- stuff it
- bring it to the wash station to brush/fluff it (for the kids)
- pick out an outfit for the bear (if you choose)
- fill out its birth certificate at the computer station
- and go to the cash register to get the box and the birth certificate
As for avoiding toys, if you have any girly girls getting then a nice small jewellery box is fantastic. I know my aunt got one for me as a small girl and I still have it. Same with necklaces and charm bracelets. You don’t have to spend a lot to get something nice. My aunt never had a lot of money but she always threw together small packets of jewelry (even plastic stuff for my younger sister). Another option is the classics. Cabbage patch dolls are back and my daughter (2yrs) likes them. Something to reckon about anyway. =)
